Self-Validation

Note: Upgrade to the improved Touchstone 2.0. Touchstone 1.0 will be deprecated on March 31, 2025. Please contact your account team (Project Manager/Integration Engineer) or Conviva Support (support@conviva.com) to start using Touchstone 2.0.
To learn more, see the Self Validation Using Touchstone 2.0 topic.

Once you complete the integration steps, perform a self-validation using Touchstone.

Touchstone is Conviva's web-based tool that monitors the activity of your integrated video application/player. You can see the active clients, track monitoring session status, check custom metadata, view player state transitions, and so on. It serves as a middle-man capture tool, but continues to forward the heartbeats to our backend (Pulse).

Please review the video guidelines in this slide deck to assist with the Touchstone validation steps.

Perform Self-Validation

Perform the following steps for Self-Validation:

  1. Temporarily override the gateway URL parameter used in your integration code or configuration scripts and point it to the value https://*.testonly.conviva.com, where * is your Pulse account name. You can see your Touchstone service URL once you log in to Touchstone.
  2. Log in to Touchstone and Pulse / Video.
  3. In Pulse, create a new real-time filter using your ASN or Client ID. This will allow filtering of the test traffic. The Client ID can be found in your Touchstone session.
  4. Register your device's public IP address in the Device Validation dashboard in Pulse.
  5. Start testing by using the test cases in the Stream Sensor Sanity Test Plans spreadsheet. For the full validation test, use the test cases in the Stream Sensor Full Test Plan spreadsheet.
  6. Follow the applicable test plans to execute the test cases using Touchstone and Pulse.

Submit for Conviva Validation

After the self-validation process is complete, submit your Device Application to Conviva QA for comprehensive validation testing through Application Manager and deployment. Conviva provides exhaustive testing of both metrics and metadata, establishing data integrity prior to launch. Comprehensive validation reports are shared upon completion for review, and additional support is provided by Integration Engineers in the event that issues are identified.

Note: Conviva integration certification is mandatory before production deployment of your Device Application.

See the Build Submission for Conviva Validation section in Plan, Integrate, Validate, Launch Process for more details about Conviva Validation process.
